Faith Family Fête gets Fit
10 years ago I married my best friend. A year later we had our first baby. 2 more babies followed making us a family of 5.
The “babies” are now 8, 6 and 2.
Like many women, the years of child-bearing, parenting, working and trying to be a good wife, daughter, sister and friend – took its toll on me: physically, emotionally, spiritually. While my faith in Jesus Christ is strong; I eat okay (comparably speaking); and even exercise a few times a week – I became increasingly horrified at the number on the scale. A trim 125lbs in my 20s – I weighed in on August 1, 2018 at a shocking 147lbs! With my small bone structure and average height (5’5) – I have definitely (ahem) rounded out a bit over the years.
I love my body at any size. I don’t do “body bashing” and I don’t believe in plastic surgery. I will not sculpt or scalpel myself to resemble what society demands. This is my body. God made us perfect and in His image. I am deeply grateful for my health, strength and two strong legs. I spent many years working with seniors and the disabled. Being present in nursing homes and skilled care facilities made me realize how blessed I am to rise out of bed each morning and possess the physical freedom to move about. That is not something I ever intend to take for granted when I look in a mirror – even if the reflection that looks back at me has a tummy and a muffin top.
Truth? The weight I can accept (I freely slurp Starbucks, eat cookies and drink wine at my current size 8). However, how I feel has become intolerable. I wake up exhausted. I go to sleep exhausted. I feel drained throughout my day. I am cranky, inpatient and irritable. All I want to do when I get home is put on stretchy pants and lay around. I have little energy for my husband, children or myself. I drink (on average) 5 cups of coffee per day. I also consume a lot of snacks to give me energy. Snacking at night is common.
I grew tired of being tired. I’m only 37 – not 100! I knew I needed to make a change.
For this reason, I am so excited to announce my latest collaboration with AdvoCare. Backed by scientific research and its internationally recognized Scientific and Medical Advisory Board, AdvoCare offers premium nutritional, weight-management and sports-performance products – along with incredible one on one coaching. I started experimenting with some of AdvoCare’s most popular products a few months ago – and was surprisingly pleased. Working closely with my AdvoCare Advisor, Rebekah Siegler, I am now committed to undertaking a 12 week transformation journey through the AdvoCare One/80 Shape Up Program. Starting Monday August 6, 2018 – I will be documenting my efforts here on catbattista.com.
I will be blogging weekly with an update on my transformation journey. If you haven’t already – sign up to follow me here or connect with me on Facebook and Instagram. I will be writing about my experience with the AdvoCare products, meal prep and my work outs. I hope that you will be inspired to “celebrate your legs” and get out there to pursue your health and wellness goals!
Thank you so much to everyone who has been following my personal story celebrating faith family fête and now – fit!
Week One: August 6, 2018
Weight 147 lbs
This first week is all about making “good choices” and starting the One 80 Shape Up program strong. Here is what I am doing:
- Transformation Journal – I am using my AdvoCare Transformation Journal to track my progress and hold myself accountable
- Support Group – I am connected with other people in my “Shape Up” via a social media app where we can message, support, cheerlead and encourage each other during the day
- Meal Prep – I am not eating out. I am making all of my meals at home and packing my nutritional supplements. I am tracking my progress in the Transformation Journal
- Cardio + Weight Training – I am committed to exercising + weight training 4 times this week
- Starbucks + Alcohol – Farewell dear friends…
